Senior Scientist, Cell Therapy

We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Senior Scientist to join our dynamic Cell Therapy Team. With your expertise in Cellular Therapy, Immunology, and Immuno-Oncology, you will play a pivotal role in advancing innovative Cell Therapy products. Utilize your in vivo and in vitro experience in T cell immunology to design and conduct laboratory experiments, develop methodologies, and interpret scientific data in a collaborative environment. Accountabilities:
  • Conduct routine drug discovery research experiments using molecular and cellular biology techniques, analyze and interpret data, and communicate results to team members.
  • Perform hands-on in vitro research, including the design, implementation, and interpretation of studies.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure efficient information relay and forward translation of data.
  • Assess and report data independently, developing an understanding of its implications within the drug discovery context.
  • Provide technical instruction to the team and allocate administrative work where possible.
  • Share information between distinct projects within the bioscience function and across other functions as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environment standards and relevant internal AstraZeneca standards and external regulations.
  • Lead or co-lead project teams and contribute to scientific publication goals.

Essential Skills/Experience:
  • PhD plus 0-3 years or MS with 5-8 years of demonstrated experience in Cellular Therapy, Immunology, and/or Immuno-Oncology.
  • Well-developed understanding of molecular and cellular biology, immunological assays, and cell transfection/transduction.
  • Experience developing cellular therapies including CAR-T/CAR-NK, TCR-T therapies, and/or TIL therapies.
  • Ability to design, execute, troubleshoot experiments, and review, analyze, and interpret results.
  • Advanced cell culture techniques.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
  • Experience with genome editing technologies (CRISPR/Cas9, base-editing, transposons, etc.).
  • Multicolor flow cytometry.
  • Background in drug discovery and development in the pharmaceutical industry.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $ 108,473.60 - 162,710.40. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an at-will position and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
