Our Culture of Care - Zinpro Position Summary The Senior Research Chemist is responsible for the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel chemical entities for use in animal nutrition and human health. This role supports product development, and competitive analysis, while also contributing to regulatory documentation and intellectual property development. The ideal candidate will work independently, communicate effectively, and contribute to a collaborative laboratory environment. Essential Functions Design and synthesize novel molecules for use in nutritional and health-related applications. Characterize synthesized compounds using techniques such as NMR, IR, and pH. Develop and document laboratory procedures and synthetic pathways. Propose and evaluate new chemical entities and improvements to existing products. Conduct competitive product analysis and benchmarking. Prepare patent applications and regulatory documentation. Maintain accurate and complete laboratory notebooks and records. Ensure safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain laboratory inventory and equipment readiness. Demonstrate creativity, initiative, independence, and accountability in task execution. Comply with ISO and internal quality system procedures (e.g., PR85-01, PR73-01). Qualifications Required: Education and Experience: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or related field with 5+ years of experience in chemical compound development for animal or human applications. Alternatively, a M.S. in Chemistry with 5-10 years of relevant experience in synthetic organic chemistry. Capable of preparing technical reports, patent documents, and presenting scientific findings to diverse audiences Reasoning and Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and scientific reasoning. Ability to design synthetic routes and interpret complex data. Creative and can link knowledge from multiple areas Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based research tools. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds regularly. Comfortable working in a chemical laboratory environment with exposure to fume hoods, pumps, and other lab equipment. Must be able to recognize and respond to hazardous events. Schedule Requirements This position is scheduled during regular business hours. The role could include working in different time zones with internal and external customers.
