Job Title: Manager, Process Control Engineer

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for managing Process Control Engineering, Chemistry Lab, Materials Lab, Operational Process Control and support our chemical suppliers. Responsibilities include: driving quality improvements through controlled KPIV's (Key Process Input Variables), optimized KPOV's (Key Process Output Variables), development and execution of a roadmap and strategy for world-class process control and lead all teams with an operational excellence mindset. The person should also be a technical plating resource that can support the organization in growth and problem solving.

Manages Chemical and Material Lab activities:

Ensures all lab testing requirements defined in the Control Plans are scheduled, completed, and documented appropriately

Continuously review lab capacity and capability requirements to support Operations including evaluation of new instrumentation and testing methods as required

Coordinate lab support for all internal and external customers including Integration testing, root cause analysis, customer audits and site visits, and any other lab related requests

Manage and evaluate large volumes of process input data to ensure processes are running as designed, as well as looking for trends that indicate pending problems

Process capability monitoring including early detection of pending issues and implementing corrective action

Manages Process Control Team:

Owns KPIV and drives quality improvements while working closely with Operations to ensure KPIV's are monitored and controlled correctly.

Responsible for root cause analysis and implementing corrective action, in the event of out-of-control KPIV's. If there is a failure to meet a KPOV, communicates to the appropriate owner and aids with root cause analysis and corrective action of failed KPOV's where applicable.

Develop KPIV's for new processes and product launches

Evaluate effectiveness of existing KPIV's and correct as necessary

Identify KPIV's requiring engineered solutions and implement accordingly

Develop and execute quality improvement metrics relative to process control

Establish clear expectations for plating line housekeeping and cleanliness along with frequent line walks to ensure standards are being met

Daily standard work to include monitoring of process conditions on production floor (e.g. are controls and place and being executed by Operations, are there out of control conditions, ), as well as monitoring control data for KPIV's

Participate in new process equipment selection and implementation process to make sure process control concerns are addressed.

Support Operations, Maintenance, and Quality in troubleshooting processes

Train area leaders, team leaders and operators on process control related items

Process Control Engineering:

Development of Process Control Vision and Strategy Enterprise Wide

Develop and communicate process control roadmap and standards

Develop and maintain relationships with leadership and key stakeholders

Develop plating expertise through on-going training and hands on experience

Could potentially come in contact with hazardous chemicals

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:

Reports to: Director, Operations

Supervises: Lab Manager, Process Managers

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.

Education and/or Experience:

Expected: BS in Chemical Engineering or equivalent years of experience in process control and lab environments. Ability to lead teams - both direct reports and team members with dotted line responsibilities. Thorough understanding of process control and problem-solving techniques. Experience in metal finishing, ideally decorative chrome plating.

Preferred: Ten years of process control and lab experience is desired. The successful candidate will have a key technical role in a high growth, high volume, fast-paced environment, and be results driven, hands-on, with a proven track record of delivering on stretch objectives. Excellent communicator and motivator in a team-based environment.

Communication Skills:

Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.

Strong communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels throughout an organization.
