This position is part of Research and Development team located in Waltham , MA and will be full-time onsite. At Aldevron , we combine best-in-class products and service with the ideal operating environment to lay the groundwork for vital new discoveries worldwide. You will be a part of a cross-functional R&D team focused on Gene Editing and report to the Director of R&D .
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Design, execute, and analyze experiments focused on Nanoplasmind TM technologies, including its use in gene editing and other new platform development.
Strong technical knowledge of gene synthesis and cloning. In-depth understanding of molecular biology techniques, including PCR /qPCR , Gibson assembly and Golden Gate assembly . Culture and transgene expression in variety of human primary cell types. Engineer bacterial strains for novel platform development.
Utilize advanced techniques to independently generate and interpret experimental data, draw conclusions and open new areas of growth.
Work closely with scientists, engineers, and product managers to achieve project goals and deliver results on tight timelines.
Get involved in a variety of novel technologies for your rapid career growth . Mentor junior scientists and contribute to their professional development.
The essential requirements of the job include:
PhD in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related discipline with 3+ years of experience. Or MS degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related discipline with 5+ years of experience. Or BS degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related discipline with 8+ years of experience.
High p roficiency in molecular biology techniques, including PCR, cloning, and protein expression. Familiarity with methods such as HPLC, AKTA and ELISA. Demonstrable experience with bacterial systems and strain engineering
Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to analyze complex data sets. Experience with statistical software and data visualization tools. Go-getter and willingness to learn and master new techniques in a fast-paced environment. Conceptualize invented technologies in terms of introducing as products to the genomics medicine market
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in some combination of :
Viral/ non-viral delivery methods and flow cytometry analysis
Ultracentrifugation -based techniques in purification/analysis of gene editing components
Automated liquid handlers , Next- Gen sequencing , protein engineering
