Job Description Under the supervision of a Senior Technician or Chemist, the Lab Technician is expected to perform various functions with a high level of initiative and independence. This includes the formulation and synthesis of polymers, testing of adhesives, and the evaluation, collection, and recording of data. The technician will participate in organizing and conducting experiments using established procedures, while summarizing and reporting results in a laboratory notebook. Additionally, the technician will use a computer to enter data and information, including charts and tables, to communicate project results and details. Involvement in making adhesives from chemical ingredients and preparing coated samples using lab coating equipment is also required. Responsibilities
- Formulate and synthesize polymers.
- Test adhesives.
- Evaluate, collect, and record data.
- Organize and perform experiments using established procedures.
- Summarize and report results in a laboratory notebook.
- Enter data and create charts and tables using a computer for project communication.
- Make adhesives from chemical ingredients.
- Prepare coated samples using lab coating equipment.
- Test performance characteristics of coated substrates using established procedures.
- 0-2 years of demonstrated laboratory experience.
- Proficiency in Chemistry, GMP, and Titration.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office products - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to understand and follow experimental protocols.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in recording detailed notes and data.
- Effective communication skills in spoken and written English.
- Comfortable and able to work with chemicals while following safe laboratory practices and protocols.
- Ability to stand while working in the laboratory throughout most of the day.
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
