The R&D Chemical Engineer will work as a member of a project team to develop new products, technologies, and processes to support Albany Internationals objective of supplying the highest value products in the Paper Machine Clothing Industry. Strong problem solving, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will have the ability to take over leadership of projects after 2 3 years.
Essential Job Functions
Conducts laboratory tests and/or pilot trials on multiple projects both independently and as a team member
Builds and tests laboratory prototypes of new product concepts
Produces documents, summarizes, interprets and reports laboratory data in support of an assigned R&D project and/or technical service task
Generates ideas for research or new products
Plans, conducts, schedules, and coordinates small projects
Gains knowledge of Albany products and markets
Uses knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing and laboratory equipment and testing processes to solve problems
Exercises judgment on the progress of the work and makes changes to tasks as needed
Delivers written reports and/or oral technical presentations on test or pilot trial results to leaders and managers
Designs custom equipment modifications or develops custom test methods as needed
Develops resources outside and inside the company
