The Global Design Technology Studio at Gensler seeks a Data Scientist to bring leadership and expertise to our Design Technology team. You will deliver innovative solutions connecting data and outcomes from designs to practitioners, projects, and clients through a creative and collaborative culture. Strong technical skills in collecting, managing, analyzing, synthesizing, and assessing large datasets are required, with a focus on identifying trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with the Data team to develop, train, and deploy ML classification algorithms using data from design authoring tools.
- Leverage trained data models to explore trends and define insights aligned with business and client needs.
- Develop data pipelines in MS Azure to deliver data and insights via Web APIs into visualization platforms and other Gensler IP, in partnership with Data Engineering colleagues.
- Work with studio colleagues on strategies and solutions for integrating insights into early design stages.
- Research opportunities to integrate additional datasets such as geospatial, proprietary, and operational data.
- Explore emerging technologies in the AEC space and advise on build vs. buy strategies.
- Support R&D initiatives for future Strategic Insights.
- Help grow a data-driven design community within the firm.
- Drive technical upskilling of project teams for sophisticated PowerBI solutions.
- Align data and insights generation with overall digital strategy and business goals.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or Computer Science, with practical experience in Data, Data Engineering, or Data Science.
- 10+ years of experience in statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling (AEC industry experience a plus).
- Ability to work creatively and collaboratively on complex problems.
- Stay current with best practices and new technologies.
- Proficiency with Azure services (Azure ML, Databricks, Data Factory) and data sources (SQL, NoSQL, graph, Cosmos DB, JSON, vector databases).
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or similar languages for data analysis and modeling.
- Experience with ML & Generative AI technologies, performance evaluation, and ML pipelines in Azure.
- Knowledge of Data governance, privacy, and security practices.
- Proficiency in Data Visualization tools like PowerBI, Plotly, Seaborn, D3, Streamlit.
- Experience with Git and source control.
- Additional skills such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Functions, Computer Vision, REST API development, C#, event-driven architectures, and certifications are a plus.
- Target compensation in LA: $120-130k; in SF/SJ: $140-150k, plus bonuses and benefits, based on experience.
