Job Description

We're looking for a highly motivated scientist to join our Process Chemistry Department and make a significant impact within the Materials Sciences & Engineering group. This dynamic role requires a blend of hands-on scientific expertise and collaborative leadership, frequently partnering with diverse teams such as medicinal chemistry and formulation. Your core responsibilities will center on material-related subjects, including solid-state chemistry, crystallization & scale-up, particle engineering, and process optimization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Solid Form Strategy: Collaborate closely with process chemists, analytical chemists, and formulation scientists to screen, characterize, identify, and select optimal API/intermediate solid forms for development.
  • Design & Optimize Isolation Processes: Conduct thorough research to design, develop, and scale up API crystallization and isolation processes, ensuring the drug substance meets target material profiles (purity, polymorph, stability, and particle characteristics).
  • Drive Advancement of Development Programs: Provide crucial materials and engineering expertise to accelerate API development programs. You'll critically evaluate processes for efficiency, scalability, safety, and robustness, preparing programs for successful technical transfer and commercialization.
  • Resolve Complex Challenges: Partner with scientists across functional areas to address development challenges. Analyze complex problems and assess data with ingenuity and creativity to develop innovative solutions. Think critically and independently, suggesting suitable development strategies and applying necessary resources for problem resolution.
  • Provide Scientific Guidance: Advise project teams on the initiation, planning, and execution of laboratory experimentation related to material and engineering topics.
  • Disseminate Scientific Findings: Clearly present and interpret research data and conclusions. Summarize key scientific findings in comprehensive reports to support patent applications and regulatory filings, and contribute to the scientific community through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
  • Foster Innovation & Capability Growth: Champion the adaptation of new technologies (e.g., predictive tools) to advance development and enhance organizational capabilities. Demonstrate technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and independent thought in proposing experimental design and strategy, fostering a collaborative problem-solving spirit.
