Job Description: Carlisle Construction Materials LLC seeks a full-time Associate Analytical Scientist Spectroscopy Specialist based in Carlisle, PA . Responsible for leading projects in supporting product development, research and innovation. Provide support in developing and troubleshooting products, process, and other plant issues for different product lines at Carlisle Construction Materials. Identifying, developing, and implementing new analytical methods and techniques using the following spectroscopy, chromatography, x-ray, thermal and microscopy tools: Gas Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS), Gas Chromatography Flame Ionization Detector (GC-FID), Gas Chromatography Thermal Conductivity Detector (GC-TCD); X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF), X-ray Diffraction Spectroscopy (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermomechanical Analysis (TMA), Scanning Electron Microscopy Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), Optical Microscopy (OM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS), to make qualitative and quantitative analyses for research and development of new products or processes and quality control of existing products, to better understand and predict various formulations interaction and their long-term performance, build knowledge on fundamental properties of formulation components, such as polymers, fillers, plasticizers, lubricants, flame retardants, catalysts, stabilizers, and curatives. Providing technical support and assistance to product managers, R&D chemists, and engineers, production, and warranty group. Communicating and providing training on analytical capabilities and techniques. Responsible for calibration, performance monitoring, maintenance, and operation of equipment. Provide and maintain a safe and clean work environment. Responsible for providing support for innovation of new raw materials, new products and processes with a bias towards sustainability, optimizing operational and maintenance costs, quality assurance of raw materials and associated specifications, as well as the design and performance requirements of products produced, fabricated, and innovated at Carlisle Construction Materials. Organizing work in alignment with business priorities. Reading and researching latest technologies to identify future new products and processes. Collaborating and sharing knowledge with others. Undertaking other duties as assigned by manager.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as an Analytical Materials Scientist or any related occupation utilizing materials analysis. Must have five (5) years of experience with GC-MS, GC-FID, GC-TCD, TGA, DSC, SEM-EDS and FTIR. Must have four (4) years of experience with OM, TMA, XPS, XRF, XRD and UV-Vis. Must have two (2) years of experience with ICP-MS and TEM. Must also have experience developing analysis plans or methods to determine the materials characteristics relevant to the project and collaborating with clients to support new product development, product scale up, and failure analysis.
