Position Summary:
Perform analytical testing on intermediate and final products according to standard operating procedures to ensure plant efficiency in the conversion of starch to ethanol as required by company standards as well as state and federal mandates. Responsible for day-to-day testing and quality control measures as identified by operational needs and management. New responsibilities and tasks are added as needs arise. The shift for this position is Monday-Friday 6:00am-3:00pm with potential for overtime.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Understand and adhere to all company safety procedures and participate in regular periodic Environmental, Health, and Safety Training.
- Manages laboratory inventory, orders, and stock supplies.
- Monitor various bulk chemical inventories for the process and order when needed.
- Maintain and calibrate all laboratory instrumentation, calibrations, system suitability, documentation in accordance with company standards.
- Collaborate with United Energy Necedah Logistics to generate customer-specific COA's for Ethanol sales.
- Under the direction of the Lab Manager develop and maintain quality SOPs.
- Perform routine and special testing for plant operations as dictated by the sample schedule or Management Team.
- Performs support hours dictated as needed around plant shutdowns bi-annually.
- Properly prepare, store, and ship samples to various third-party labs on a weekly and as needed basis.
- Assist the Lab Manager and Operations in the generation of quality plant data to be used for analysis of plant performance.
- Assist in other areas of the plant as needed.
- Capability to adapt to plant needs or concerns within the Lab in support of the Operation teams.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in the lab.
- Follow all safe work practices.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Biology or Chemistry (Associate degree or work experience with proper analytical/industry background will be considered).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work well with others in and outside of Quality Control.
- Ability to work efficiently without guidance.
- Strict attention to detail.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Adherence to high standards (company & industrial).
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions; must be able to climb ladders and work in high, precarious places; and all outdoor weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., bend, twist, and reach.
