About the Role:This role sits within the Mobile Engineering team, responsible for delivering world-class mobile experiences for premium Dow Jones brands. As a Senior Principal Enginee r , you will serve as a technical leader across multiple teams and product areas, setting strategic direction for mobile architecture and infrastructure. Your focus will be on solving the most complex, cross-cutting engineering challenges, guiding long-term platform decisions, and ensuring technical excellence at scale. You will shape the future of mobile development at Dow Jones by driving critical technical initiatives, mentoring engineering leaders, and championing practices that elevate velocity, quality, and innovation.
You Will:Set technical direction and architectural vision for large-scale mobile initiatives across multiple product teams and brands.
Drive alignment across engineering, product, and design by translating complex business goals into resilient, scalable technical solutions.
Lead modernization efforts to reduce tech debt, improve performance, and streamline platform development across the iOS platform.
Act as a trusted advisor and mentor to principal and lead engineers, promoting technical growth and engineering excellence.
Partner closely with leadership to influence cross-functional roadmaps.
Represent mobile engineering in company-wide architectural reviews and ensure mobile strategy aligns with overall technical direction.
10+ years of experience in mobile engineering, with deep iOS expertise and proven impact beyond individual apps or teams.
Demonstrated experience setting mobile architectural direction at scale and guiding teams through large system redesigns or platform transitions.
Strong technical depth in system design, infrastructure, and performance optimization.
A collaborative mindset, with excellent communication skills and a track record of influencing across engineering, product, and executive leadership.
Experience with platform thinkingbuilding tools, components, or CI/CD systems that accelerate feature teams.
Familiarity with cross-platform strategy, Android development, and backend technologies such as GraphQL, cloud services, and analytics platforms.
A passion for news and mission-driven products; experience in media or journalism is a plus.
