Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Remediation team in our project site office on Long Island, NY. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of technical staff and leaders across our practice area delivering professional consulting services to some of our key clients.
This is a field and office-based role comprising approximately 60% field work and 40% office-based work. Office-based work will be conducted from the Long Island, NY project office; this is not a remote or hybrid position. Field-based work will require travel within New York and potentially the New Jersey Area or outside of these areas (from days to weeks) to support projects as needed across the United States.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Performing routine field work such as groundwater, soil or air sampling.
- Ability to perform field work in possible inclement weather, requiring walking on uneven terrain, bending, lifting, and carrying equipment that may weigh up to 20 lbs.
- Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule. Reserving and organizing field-related travel expenses and receipts for reimbursement submittal (e.g., reserving a rental car, purchasing project-related items using company credit card, tracking receipts, and preparing and submitting expense reports)
- Knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications.
- Analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced scientist/engineer.
- Preparing progress reports for internal and external stakeholders. Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree or higher in Environmental Science, Soil Science, or related field AND 2 years of demonstrated equivalency of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education
- Valid U.S. Drivers License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
- As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- HAZWOPER 40 Hr. Training - current
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
