We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, results-oriented Research Scientist II to join the Genetics Medicine Unit at our San Diego, CA location. The ideal candidate will be innovative, organized, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment. This individual will execute and support in vivo and ex vivo studies to support oligonucleotide delivery programs.

About the Role

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and troubleshoot in vivo studies for a variety of Neuroscience programs
  • Intracerebroventricular (ICV) and intrathecal (IT) dosing, bleeding and CNS tissue dissection and collection
  • Tissue processing to support RNA and protein assays (Western, qPCR, in situ hybridization assays)
  • Handle many projects simultaneously and prioritize experiments while producing high quality, reliable and reproducible results
  • Data analysis, organization and presentation
  • Maintain up to date, organized and accurate study records including the use of an electronic lab notebook

Minium Requirements:

  • BA/BS in science-related field
  • 2+ research experience, preferably in the field of neuroscience
  • Experience developing and executing in vivo experiments in rodent models
  • Experience developing and optimizing CNS dosing protocols for neuropharmacology studies, including ICV and IT injections
  • Expertise in small animal surgical techniques (stereotaxic surgeries, catheterization)
  • Ability to work well in collaborative, fast-paced team environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of computer software and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism)

The salary for this position is expected to range between $73,000 and $136,000 per year.

The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.

Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
