The Coastal Habitat Conservation Program in the Northern Region, is hiring an Environmental Scientist to work throughout Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte Counties as part of a statewide team that assists in the overall administration of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) Cutting the Green Tape (CGT) program, to increase the pace and scale of environmental restoration through coordination of restoration project development, permitting pathways, and select restoration grant management. In this position, the incumbent would have the opportunity to work directly with restoration practitioners in developing and permitting restoration projects for both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems that restore form and function to habitats while aiding in the recovery of declining species. Working Conditions
The incumbent will report to the CDFW Eureka Field Office, Humboldt County. The position requires the use of a computer for several hours each day, the completion of office tasks that require sitting, standing, and walking to other locations; attendance at meetings and workgroups in person with State and Federal agency staff and interested parties or via conference call or video conference. The position may require occasional travel throughout the State including early mornings, late nights, hiking over uneven and possibly steep or wet terrain, and work in inclement weather. The position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform for identification purposes and appropriate footwear. A valid California Drivers License is required to drive to meetings, field sites and to operate a State vehicle.
