Job Description The lab technician is responsible for testing incoming raw materials to specifications, setting up and conducting corrosion testing, creating and maintaining test records and logs, supporting other lab technicians as needed, and adhering to laboratory SOPs and certifications in compliance with A2LA standards. Responsibilities
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses of raw materials in the laboratory for quality or process control.
- Set up and operate various lab instrumentation including standard salt fog cabinets, cyclic corrosion chambers, pH meters, hydrometers, and various analytical lab equipment.
- Support other technicians in their daily work assignments, working collaboratively to achieve goals.
- Mix testing solutions according to specifications.
- Set up and monitor tests, accurately entering test data into appropriate locations.
- Perform chamber and lab housekeeping as needed.
- Maintain, repair, and replace test equipment as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lab Manager.
- Proficiency in instrumentation techniques such as GPC, PSA, FTIR, ICP, and GC-FID.
- Competency in qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis.
- Strong multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good general computer and math skills.
- High School Diploma required.
- Experience with wet chemistry and analytical research.
- Experience in using environmental chambers, salt spray, and humidity testing.
- Investigative skills in failure analysis.
