Job Description:

Formulation Development and Drug Delivery Innovation

  • Designs and executes formulation development bench work in support of Pre-Clinical, Phase I &
    II projects (DS characterization, solubilization studies, pH stability, excipient selection, lead
    formulation selection, R&D stability batches).
  • Conduct the physical/chemical characterization of all formulations with regard to solution/solid
    state stability.
  • Evaluates delivery technologies, novel formulation to deliver the research targets for the unmet
    medical needs and screening funnels to accelerate identification and advancement for current
    standard of care for ophthalmic pharmaceuticals.
  • Evaluates and performs feasibility studies of new technologies and develops platforms to deliver
    dosage forms for continued top line growth.
  • Conceptual understanding of pharmaceutical GLP, cGMP, ICH-QbD guidelines, intellectual
    property, and regulatory requirements. Aware of industry best practices in analytical chemistry
    and helps set strategy for the function. Implements novel functional or cross-functional strategies
    to solve challenging issues.
  • Works with co-workers within the use of complex instrumentation (Lyo, Mixers, Zetasizer, and
    others) and routinely provide guidance to others on the instrumentation.
  • Possess strong communication skills, and ability to effectively interact with cross-functional teams.

Scientific Communication and Technology Collaboration

  • Present scientific contributions in a logical manner in the form of posters, presentations, or
    presentations.
  • In addition to basic activities, you may assume one or more responsibilities (specific activities) in
    the area of Science & Technology, and/or Device Development
  • Keeps up to date with the latest scientific advances in the area of LNP platforms, characterization
    of dispersed systems (physico-chemical and thermodynamic characteristics governing disperse
    systems), with special emphasis on lipid nanoparticles (LNP) formulations.
  • Prepare SOPs and procedures/protocols, and professional/technical reports, and write scientific
    articles, and publications; may contribute to both internal and external publications. Delivers
    results on time with high scientific rigor and quality
Expected Salary:

$61,350-$69,7000

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in biology or a closely related field and seven years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree in biology or a closely related field and five years of relevant experience; Doctoral degree in biology or a closely related field and two years of relevant experience. Preferred:

Ph.D. in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bio-engineering, or related Field or Masters Degree with 3 or more years of relevant experience. Hands-on expertise in lipid nano-particle formulation and characterization. Strong background in HPLC method development for nucleic acids and excipients. Demonstrates experience in scaling formulation processes from discovery through clinical trial readiness. Five or more years of experience working in a research laboratory. Five years of small animal handling and surgical experience. Three years of laboratory management. Experience with designing/modifying experiments and processes. Demonstrated skills in laboratory management. Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment Effective cross-functional collaboration skills Demonstrated professional communication skills, verbal and written Experience with mRNA vaccines or RNA therapeutics. Knowledge of analytical techniques for particle characterization (NTA, DLS, TEM, LC-MS). Familiarity with GMP principles and regulatory requirements for clinical manufacturing and ICH assay validation guidance.
