External Job Description

The Lab Tech is assigned to night shift. The position is paid $21.17 per hour. Health and welfare benefits begin on date of hire, there is a perfect attendance award, and an annual bonus.

Main Accountabilities

Conduct and analyze laboratory testing on processed flour product

Ensure the following elements are focused on:

Productivity: Coordinate with QA manager

Quality: Analyze conditions by inspecting inventory, lab results, and insuring that packaging, lot numbers, logs, etc. are accurate.

Safety: Maintain a safe work environment for self and all employees by leading and participating in all safety aspects.

Other safety related duties as assigned including, but not limited to safety inspections, assist with LOTO and confined space entry, CPR, present safety topics, etc.

Environmental: Evaluate work areas, respond to alarms, assist with housekeeping controls.

Training of new employees

Required to follow all HAACP procedures and guidelines to ensure product safety and quality

Operate and control flour packaging machines/equipment and assist with additive processing

Record data, secure samples and perform necessary process controls tests required for the successful operation of the plant

Make or suggest adjustments and maintain established operating parameters

General housekeeping of the plant

Ensure scales are weighing accurately and consistently

Perform miscellaneous job related duties/projects as assigned

Commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.

Education/Experience

High School Diploma/GED is preferred

Certified in all areas of assigned department including use of mobile equipment

Must be willing to train in all areas of packaging and additive mixing

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

Demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious environment

Some mechanical background including the ability to recognize signs of operational failure

Good written and verbal communication skills

Must be willing and able to work rotating shift and overtime as needed

Must be willing to work different schedules for specified time period as deemed appropriate by management
