This position is focused on the development of data-driven modelling and uncertainty quantification for marine robotics applications. The job will focus on designing engineering simulations, experiments and/or tests and collect data to ensure data integrity/control. The position will also require preparation of scientific manuscripts and presentations for the funding agency and for international conferences and/or journals. The selected candidates will join a multi-disciplinary team of researchers at Louisiana State University and will have the opportunity to pursue research and development within a range of topics related to distributed underwater autonomous systems and will work closely with our industry partners. The candidates must be US permanent residents or US citizens.
Job Responsibilities:
40% Manage, oversee, and design engineering simulations, experiments and/or tests and collect data to ensure data integrity/control. Responsibility for planning, organizing and directing the daily operations. Incumbent is responsible for budget development and management and for directing long range planning and policy development activities. Reviews and evaluates results of the simulations, experiments, and/or tests. Conducts highly advanced research to identify solutions for modeling and control of distributed maritime operations.
40% Designs software tools for modeling, control, perception of distributed marine operations. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
15% Provides direct management support in initiating and developing contacts with grant/contract agencies and sources and in developing funding sources. Participates in major hearings, presentations, and public meetings to provide expert testimony, represent the project/program, and resolve significant issues which may impact or result from the research. Writes monthly reports and presentations for the research group and/or the funding agency.
5% Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree and 2-4 years of related experience or Ph.D in related field.
