The Shin lab in the Department of Anatomical Sciences and Neurobiology in the School of Medicine at the University of Louisville, Louisville KY, is accepting applications for a Research Scientist. The successful candidate will help to lead an enthusiastic and productive team aimed at investigating the pathophysiology and candidate therapeutics for Parkinsons disease (PD). To accomplish this, we perform animal surgeries, in vivo electrophysiological recordings in rodent models of diseases and behavioral testing. Lastly, various assays are conducted postmortem to assess how a multitude of physiological endpoint metrics coincide with changes in the brain in PD and with treatment.
Preferred Qualification
PhD in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, Physiology or other related discipline(s).
The person should also be highly motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Surgical expertise (e.g., stereotaxic implants of recording electrodes), performing ELISAs and other detection assays, animal handling and/or a background in electrophysiology are not required but would be beneficial.
