Job Title: Quality Control Technician
Job Description
As a Quality Control Technician, you will learn and become proficient in various film, paperboard, and finished goods testing procedures. Your role will involve observing and gaining familiarity with mixing, coating, embossing, and laminating processes to assist in process audits and identify areas for improvement. You will also compare test results to documented standards and analyze data using our internal Quality windows system to identify potential issues and areas for enhancement.
Responsibilities
- Learn and execute basic film, paperboard, and finished goods test procedures including Quick PEEK, Adhesion Testing, Visual inspection, caliper, and coating weight evaluation.
- Assist in process audits to document standard practices and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze data using internal Quality windows system to identify potential issues.
- Become familiar with Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Techniques.
- Participate in product non-compliance investigations including customer complaints.
- Collect samples and data for setting up visual standards and developing new specifications.
- Operate basic lab equipment such as Goniometer, Analytical balance, Microscope, Crock meter, Moisture analyzers, COF tester, and Steel rulers.
- Apply basic statistical analysis to data to identify trends and non-conformance.
- Collect representative samples for internal and external evaluation and prepare them for shipping.
- Develop and write basic test procedures and quality procedures.
- Collaborate with production operators to monitor processes and address potential issues.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance overall product quality.
- Maintain good record keeping for projects.
- Operate FTIR for troubleshooting analysis as needed.
- Become proficient in operating the lab press and preparing Lab mixes for new product development.
- Investigate new processes, equipment, and procedures to improve overall quality performance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completed training (ASQ Quality Technician certificate or Quality Improvement Associate) within two years of hire.
Work Environment
The work environment includes working near moving mechanical parts with occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. The noise level is usually loud, and there is a risk of electrical shock. Regular involvement in handling hazardous waste requires attending a yearly mandatory training session for hazardous waste management procedures. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $25.00/hr.
