The National Security Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Laboratory Technician to work at the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command - Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM CBC) facility located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the DEVCOM CBC mission. In this mission we support DEVCOM CBC in basic and applied research, development, testing, and evaluation efforts to support the U.S. Warfighter and ensure our Warfighters maintain battlefield dominance during a chemical and/or biological weapon event. The Laboratory Technician will support researchers in development, test and evaluation of novel materials, equipment, and method applications for chemical and biological decontamination products and projects. Specific support efforts include basic laboratory functions to include, but not limited to, wet chemistry analyses, analytical equipment operation to include gas chromatograph mass spectrometer (GCMS), chemical inventory, supply management, turn-in of old chemicals, and satellite accumulation site hazardous waste management activities and documentation. Primary Responsibilities. Function as a team member with other engineers, chemists, and scientists in performing projects directed by Government assigned Principal Investigator. Perform chemical analyses using GCMS techniques that include liquid injection and thermal desorption applications. Transfer, remove, order, and enter chemicals into content manager database. Perform free chlorine analysis and decontamination bleach certifications and other chemical analyses. Maintain and store chemicals in accordance with policies and procedures. Perform duties in compliance with chemical hygiene plan (CHP) and contribute to generating various scientific technical information (STI). Performs other duties assigned. Basic Qualifications. High School Diploma with 2-4 years prior relevant experience. Experience in performing titration analyses, volumetric, and gravimetric analyses. Demonstrated experience in operating analytical equipment such as GCMS and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding in analyzing and reporting analytical data as well as ability to work independently with limited supervision. Must be able to wear laboratory personal protective equipment and apply and be admitted to the U.S. Army Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (PRP). Must obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Clearance. Preferred Qualifications. Prior experience in working with Toxic Industrial Chemicals and/or Toxic Industrial Materials; previous work experience in managing laboratory hazardous waste and previous Department of Defense research project support. Experience using commercial off the shelf thermal desorption products.
