The lab will also continue exploring TDP-43 in its hybrid form as associated with annexin A11. These research projects are funded by the NINDS and will be carried out under the direction of Drs. Kathy L. Newell and Laura Cracco. The studies will be carried out using methodologies of proteomics and genetics. Protein extraction from the brain tissue of individuals with frontotemporal dementias, TDP-43 characterization by biochemical methods and transmission electron microscopy will take place in parallel with neuropathological and structural studies.
