Principal Scientist-Engineer (Clortho) (TS/SCI #25-102)
Job Code:25-102 Location:Arlington, VA FT/PT Status:Full Time Required Clearance:Top Secret SCI ACO Advanced Resilience is seeking to fill multiple positions with highly motivated and experienced Technical Subject Matter Experts (SETA) to join our team. Successful candidates will lead activities in project management, technical and programmatic risk analysis, and program-funded test coordination. The candidate will also be responsible for coordinating meetings, assessing performer technical progress, projecting performer outcomes, and ensuring that project management best practices are followed by performers and independent verification and validation entities funded by DARPA. The ideal candidate should possess technical expertise and experience in network engineering of DOD classified networks, notably the design, implementation, operations, and maintenance of tactical and expeditionary communications networks. Exemplary candidates will have demonstrated success with learning new subjects and rapidly gaining insights into current and next-generation research and prototyping, preferably with hands-on leadership of research and development programs in the defense sector.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert technical advice and guidance to government stakeholders on all aspects of the Clortho Program, with a focus on cryptography, network engineering, and distributed systems.
- Analyze technical requirements, identify risks and dependencies, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate technical proposals from vendors, conduct technical assessments, and provide recommendations to the government. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including white papers, briefings, and reports.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices in relevant areas, such as:
- DoD Cryptography: Experience with Type 1 encryption devices, Key Management Infrastructure (KMI), and cryptographic modernization initiatives.
- Tactical Network Engineering: In-depth knowledge of classified network architectures, protocols, and security requirements in tactical environments.
- Distributed Networks and Processing: Expertise in designing, implementing, and securing distributed systems, including cloud computing platforms and edge computing architectures.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between government stakeholders, contractors, and other relevant parties.
- Participate in technical working groups, meetings, and conferences.
Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (TS/SCI) is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a technical role supporting DoD programs.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in:
- DoD cryptography standards, policies, and procedures.
- Design, implementation, and operation of secure tactical networks.
- Distributed systems architecture, design patterns, and security best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non- technical audiences.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with large scale test design and execution for network protocols.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
