You'll work in a fast-paced environment where you will drive downstream processing technology, contribute to cutting edge research and make an impact through delivering new products. These products deliver new, innovative solutions to old problems, using biotechnology to help with fundamental/ urgent issues that impact now and the future.

Welcome to Microbial Formulation Development

You'll be part of a dynamic team of scientists and research associates located in Research Triangle Park, NC. You'll work within the internal formulation development team, collaborating with groups across our R&D and production organizations, to develop formulation processes for both existing and novel microbe-based products (i.e. bacteria, fungi and yeast).

In this role you'll make an impact by:

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to downstream process development and optimization for microbial products, including industrial relevant drying and granulation techniques such as spray drying, fluid bed drying and freeze drying
• Technical analysis and evaluation of established and novel downstream unit operations for new product development utilizing bench and pilot equipment, proxy workflows and analytics
• Process optimization and troubleshooting to simplify, derisk, create flexibility, improve efficiency and/or reduce cost
• Lead program-specific process development activities for new product development, technology and optimization projects as part of a cross-functional team
• Support tech transfer, scale-up, process implementation and optimization
• Be part of a team including research associates and scientists to bring microbial and formulation innovation to scale

To succeed you must:

• Proven experience in downstream processing, particularly in industrial drying techniques.

• BSc, MS or higher in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering or related field

• 5-10 years process development experiences, preferably in biotechnology industry

• Ability to manage a cross-functional project

• Ability to drive change and lead process improvement initiatives.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

This job will be located in the RTP area in North Carolina.

Expected salary range: $95,000 - $130,000
