Job Summary:
We are seeking a scientist to design and develop adaptive control schema to advance next generation cell therapy manufacturing. The primary responsibilities of this role are to support the development of mechanistic understanding of process, drug product, and clinical outcome and identify processing strategies to control product attributes during the manufacturing process. Specifically, this role will support systematic screening of phenotypic attributes, process additives and culture conditions and characterization of CAR T drug product attributes response to perturbation towards the definition of a robust adaptive process control schema that will be implemented in manufacturing workflows. This role provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with a variety of teams within the Cell Therapy Development Organization at BMS and engage in the implementation of innovating processing strategies discovered through this work.
Key Responsibilities
- Support mechanistic model development of cell therapy process and product through high-throughput system perturbation and inhibition experimentation
- Leverage in-process product characterization, product-outcome correlations and causal experimental results to design and execute adaptive control experiments
- Use a wide array of analytical tools to quantify T cell state (flow cytometry, PCR, secreted protein quantification)
- Perform analysis and interpretation of results with regular presentations to internal working team
- Project Planning including support drafting of technical development activities and projected timeline to achieve desired project goal(s), present project plans to internal stakeholders
- Experiment Planning including conduct literature review, design experiments and propose to relevant stakeholders/subject matter expert for guidance, and maintain inventory, communicate shortages and coordinate procurement of necessary reagents
- Experiment Execution including to coordinate experiment preparation activities for timely execution,. execute proposed experiments and collect desired data, including high-throughput system perturbation and inhibition experimentation, and utilize a wide array of analytical tools to quantify T cell state for in-process product characterization
- Data Analysis and Reporting to analyze experiment data to identify trends, support correlative analysis, and determine next steps, utilize data management tools and data reporting tools to document progress, support mechanistic model development of cell therapy process and product, prepare and present reports on experimental activities and project status
- Collaboration and communication including to work closely with various functions within the cell therapy development organizations to obtain feedback and share knowledge, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- PhD in immunology, biomedical engineering, cell biology or related discipline
- Previous experience in in vitro culture of primary cells and cell lines
- Experience in molecular and biochemical laboratory techniques applied to cell characterization including flow cytometry, secreted protein quantification and DNA/RNA extraction, PCR
- Proficient in high dimensional data handling and analysis
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Highly-motivated, detail-oriented individual with the ability to multitask and collaborate effectively
- At least one first-author publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Preferred Skills
- Familiarity executing high-throughput screening techniques
- Previous experience analyzing large data through coding languages
- Previous experience with design, development, execution and analysis of in vivo experiments
