Job Overview:
As a member of the technical team, you will be responsible for the formulation of new products in the firestop, HVAC, plumbing, and other industries. This will include both new initiatives as well as continuous improvement efforts with current products.
RectorSeal manufactures and/or distributes a variety of mechanical products for the HVAC, electrical, and plumbing industries. For over 80 years, RectorSeal’s customers have depended on us for quality products with excellent value, shipped to them in a timely manner. This passion for excellent customer service is the reason RectorSeal has been growing at a very fast pace, and now requires additional shift capacity to meet customer demand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform product characterization using viscometer, analytical balance, moisture analyzer, titrator.
- Analyze new products using UV-VIS spectrometer, FT Infra-Red Spectrometer, Differential Scanning Calorimeter, and Thermal Gravimetric Analyzer.
- Develop the laboratory procedures for reagent preparation and calibration.
- Prepare product samples using various techniques, including lab mixer, high speed dispenser, Speed Mixer.
- Prepare pilot batches of new product in the laboratory up to 100 pounds.
- Conduct the stability studies using room temperature aging, high temperature aging, and freeze thaw cycle aging.
- Train quality control technician on related testing protocols
- Keep accurate records of product formulation, formulating procedures, and detailed instructions.
- Other duties assigned.
Preferred Requirements:
1-year working experience with coating, adhesives, or sealants.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry
- 1-year working experience in the chemical industry.
- Must be able to interact and communicate well with all departments and levels of the organization.
- Able to lift 50lbs.
Work Environment
Office/Laboratory: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an office environment and laboratory environment. In the lab, the employee will be will be required to wear appropriate PPE. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and or move up to 50lbs. This position requires computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
