Job Description

Purpose:

We are looking for a scientist with a chemistry background to join our cross-functional team. This role will work within a team of scientists to operate our proprietary maskless array instrumentation to synthesize peptides.

Responsibilities:

  • Uses laboratory techniques including pipetting, reconstituting reagents, calculating concentrations, dilutions, and weighing raw materials, to complete instrument setup and post-processing of arrays or peptides
  • Runs instrumentation including proprietary MAS units, HPLC, Lyophilizer, Traditional peptide synthesizers, Centrifuge, Rotovap
  • Uses existing SOP's to perform standardized activities, recommends changes and improvements as necessary
  • Maintains complete and accurate lab notebook records of procedures performed.
  • Troubleshoots problems and recommends corrective action
  • Reviews array/LCMS QC results to make calls on pass/fail for arrays and peptides
  • Prepares and reviews technical reports, SOP's, summaries, and quantitative analyses that detail procedures, observations, and results
  • Experience with organic synthesis and reagent preparation
  • Provide technical service for systems as assigned: including troubleshooting, and daily monitoring for potential issues and/or improvements.
  • Identify and evaluate problematic issues and help implement and communicate solutions.

Assist operations in the process of troubleshooting to determine potential impacts on production and facility systems.

  • Participate and/or assist engineers in the design of process equipment or systems for optimal performance. Assist in the start-up of new and troubleshoot existing facilities/equipment to ensure optimal operation and performance.
  • Coordinate maintenance, internal and external resources, and project related activities with the daily production schedule to ensure on-time completion.

Qualifications

  • High School/GED is required AND at least 5 years prior technical experience in area(s) of specialty
  • Technical training completion/certification or associates degree may substitute for up to 2 years of required experience.
  • Knowledge of basic regulatory requirements.
  • Communication Skills - Ability to concisely communicate key issues to stakeholders
  • Analytical Skills - Ability to assess issues that arise, seek multiple perspectives, gather more information as needed, and identify key issues that need to be addressed.
  • Computer Literacy - Basic competence of spreadsheets, word processing, and email and knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems and purchasing systems.
  • Planning - Ability to design, plan, organize and implement tasks within an allotted timeframe.
  • Experience with peptide synthesis, programming, and operation of liquid handlers are a plus.
