PART TIME ASSISTANT RESEARCH SCIENTIST

The NYU Sustainable Engineering Initiative at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Part Time Research Scientist to work with the Modestino Research Group.

Tandon fosters student and faculty innovation and entrepreneurship that make a difference in the world. The SEI is an emerging initiative at NYU that aims to develop engineering solutions to avoid, mitigate, and remediate emissions responsible for climate change and environmental contamination, as well as engineering strategies to evaluate the impact of and adapt to these environmental challenges. The SEI research is aimed at building the science and engineering foundation of solutions (i) for decarbonized and sustainable systems for energy generation, transportation, manufacturing, waste treatment and recovery, and agriculture, (ii) the mitigation of CO 2 emissions, and chemical and microbiological pollutants from these systems, (iii) the remediation of natural environments and (iv) adaptation to climate change.
Expectations
Candidates hired will be working on research projects related with critical materials for energy conversion devices. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in materials science and energy technologies with an understanding of sustainability, economic viability, and policy as exemplified by a strong publication record. Previous experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in a research or academic environment is necessary.
Expected start date and period of employment
Expected start date is: 06/01/2025. This position is expected to be for 3 months.
Part time appointments would require a work schedule of approximately 10-21 hours per week.
Candidates should have at least a MS in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or a related field and demonstrated expertise and research experience in one of the areas described above. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
