About the Role
As a Research Associate II in the Protein Engineering group, the candidate will work with a team of scientists on various protein engineering projects, often using high-throughput screening. We are looking for creativity, insight, and knowledge of molecular biology techniques. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in molecular biology, microbial culture, and surface display workflows. You will work alongside scientists with extensive molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and high-throughput screening expertise, sharing success on several projects simultaneously.
The RA II will report to the Protein Engineering Team Lead.
What You Will Do
Assist scientists in the execution of various high throughput, molecular biology experiments.
Execute various molecular biology experiments to assist scientists in the execution of protein engineering projects.
Contribute to lab experiments for the development, validation, and day-to-day operation of automated protocols and workflows.
Contribute to lab day-to-day operations (media prep, inventory etc.).
Operate automated instrumentation for high throughput workflows.
Track experimental progress using an electronic lab notebook.
Provide training to junior members of the team.

Who We Are Looking For
Education:
Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, biochemistry or related scientific or technical field, or equivalent experience
Required Experience:
Minimum of 2 years practical experience in an industry or academic microbiology laboratory
Experience with DNA extraction
Experience with molecular cloning techniques
Experience with basic microbiology techniques including culturing and transformation
Experience with planning and executing PCR experiments
Preferred Experience:
Experience with planning and executing cloning experiments
Experience developing experimental workflows and standard operating procedures
Experience with yeast surface display workflows
Experience with laboratory automation systems
Experience with plasmid editing software (e.g. Ape, Snapgene)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated experience working in a team environment

This role will require the candidate to be on-site
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
Compensation: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $75,000 and $83,000 per year; base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience. We typically target mid-range for well-qualified candidates. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity and full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. Following employment, growth beyond the hiring range is possible based on performance.
