Location: Lincoln, NE Salary: $100,000.00 USD Annually - $120,000.00 USD Annually Description: Job Title: Lab Manager Position Summary: The Lab Manager is responsible for leading all operations within the Quality Control Laboratory, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, regulatory standards, and company policies. This role plays a critical part in optimizing plant performance by overseeing product testing and analysis across all stages of production to ensure the highest quality and efficiency. The Lab Manager also serves as a key liaison for regulatory compliance and supports continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage all functions and personnel within the Quality Control Laboratory. Monitor plant operations to ensure product quality objectives are met. Identify and communicate process issues or changes to the Plant Manager. Train lab assistants and plant operators on equipment usage, test procedures, and sampling techniques. Develop and implement testing protocols to ensure accuracy and repeatability of results. Operate and maintain lab equipment. Maintain inventory of lab equipment and chemicals. Coordinate special testing and support R D projects in collaboration with the Plant Manager. Ensure compliance with FSMA and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain up-to-date MSDS sheets and lab safety documentation. Participate in safety programs, including PSM and PHA, and serve on the safety committee. Prepare and submit compliance reports and operational data analyses. Manage supplier relationships for chemicals, enzymes, and yeast to ensure cost-effective procurement and technical support. Oversee all biochemical and quality aspects of production processes, including fermentation, distillation, evaporation, oil extraction, and co-product manufacturing. Assist in hiring, training, and evaluating lab personnel. Manage the lab budget and contribute to the annual budgeting process. Promote a positive team environment and represent the company professionally within the community. Maintain confidentiality and uphold high standards of service and performance. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). 3-5 years of laboratory operations experience, preferably in the ethanol or related industry. Strong background in regulatory and safety programs (e.g., FSMA, HACCP). Proven leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication, organizational, and time management abilities. Proficiency in computer systems and lab software. Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
