Work in lab that focuses on Onconephrology and the use of biomarkers to identify specific kidney injury phenotypes for targeted therapeutic approaches. Use preclinical models and human samples to develop mitochondrially targeted therapeutic approaches, leveraging tumor and normal cell metabolism differences to protect from chemotherapy and radiation-induced nephrotoxicity without protecting tumor cells. Lead projects evaluating and understanding kidney toxicity associated with using radiopharmaceuticals in different preclinical models. Work with advanced cell and tissue culture techniques and perform animal experiments in various models to apply diverse experimental methods, including molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, and metabolism experiments. Collect and analyze samples, compile results, prepare reports, present findings in lab meetings, participate in journal club, prepare abstracts and poster presentations for scientific conferences, and assist the Principal Investigator in developing scientific publications and grant proposals. Perform routine laboratory duties to ensure the laboratory is appropriately maintained and supplied.
