Job Description
Responsibilities:
Perform laboratory testing in hematology, chemistry, and other disciplines
Ensure accuracy and efficiency in test results
Collaborate with healthcare teams to support patient care
Maintain compliance with laboratory standards and protocols
Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment and instruments
Analyze and interpret test results, identifying abnormalities or inconsistencies
Perform quality control procedures to ensure the reliability of test results
Collect and process biological specimens according to established protocols
Document all test results and procedures accurately and in a timely manner
Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities
Assist in the development and implementation of new testing procedures
Troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions as needed
Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
Contribute to the laboratory's continuous improvement initiatives
Mentor and train new laboratory personnel as required
Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field
ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification preferred
Florida State Licensure as a Medical Technologist
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
Proficiency in operating and maintaining advanced laboratory equipment
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in performing tests and analyzing results
Strong computer skills, including experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Knowledge of quality control procedures and regulatory compliance (e.g., CLIA, CAP)
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
