Role ProfileAs a Relief Systems Engineer on the Process Engineering team within the Engineering Services Department, you will develop safe and efficient engineering solutions for overpressure / vacuum protection. You will partner with Process Safety to meet risk reduction targets, with Technology (R&D) to evaluate processes for innovative new products, with Operations to support existing chemical plants across the site, and with project teams for implementation. This role may serve as a process design engineer on occasion. This role is located in Longview, TX, and may support other locations upon request.
Responsibilities Develop the relief systems process design for Qualifications Bachelors degree or higher in Chemical Engineering
5+ years of experience in chemical, petrochemical or related industry in Engineering and/or Operations role
Strong technical Chemical Engineering skills
- Process design and/or simulation experience
- Understanding of process equipment, fluid flow, heat transfer, reactions, relief systems, and general process control strategies
- Application of company or industry relief systems standards, practices and codes (e.g., API, NFPA, ASME)
- Software experience such as Superchems, ASPEN, HTRI, AFT Arrow / Fathom, Sinet
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Commitment to personnel and process safety and environemental awareness
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with personnel from diverse backgrounds and to collaborate effectively
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills and good judgment
- High level of initiative and ability to self-manage work assignments
- Strong service orientation and customer focus
- Ability to represent the company with outside groups and companies
- Strong planning and organization skills
- Flexibility to be on-call occasionally during evenings and weekends
