We are seekinga Senior Scientist I to joinour Translational Discovery AdvancedResearch Team inour state of the art Clark, NewJersey research facility . The Advanced Research Discoverydomain within LOreal Research & Innovation is responsible for drivingupstream scientific and clinical innovation programs, in order to deliver newtechnologies with strong proven efficacy. The team has been playing a pivotalrole in global Research & Innovation group. We build strong internationalresearch partnership and collaborations, scout for new technologies in moderncosmetic/health sciences/Medical aesthetics fields, deliver proof-of-conceptfor new technology innovations (active ingredients, devices, etc.), and workclosely with our research partners and key opinion leaders to transformupstream technologies into consumer product opportunities.
As a Senior Scientist I in our Translational DiscoveryAdvanced Research team, your main responsibilities are:
- Lead the design, laboratory execution and analysis of experiments designed to develop next generation cosmetic concepts
- Identify and implement new technologies of interest, design relevant cell and tissue assays for in vitro proof of concept and identification of key mechanism of action
- Maintain detailed and accurate records, and author and review study protocols, technical reports, presentations and publications
- Cross functional communication and collaboration within the Advanced Research team and across other departments at LOreal
To Succeed in this Position, You Have:
- A completed Ph.D. degree in in cell or molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, physiology or related discipline is required
- 0-3 years of post-PhD experience including biotech, pharma or postdoctoral fellowship experience is required
- Working knowledge in primary cell culture, including but not limited to stem cells, epidermal, dermal, muscle, adipocytes, immune cells, and endothelial cells
- Immunological cellular or molecular biology assay development is beneficial
- Experience in flow cytometry and marker panel development is a must
- Experience with datasets derived from different omics platforms such as epigenomic, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, lipidomics and metagenomics is a must
- Knowledge in the area of skin biology, tissue regeneration, inflammatory, senescence, cellular metabolic, endocrine pathways and pathology of common dermatoses
- Familiar with next generation sequencing techniques such as RNA sequencing, single-cell omics, spatial transcriptomics and epigenetics. Experience in working with Python or R is desired
- Experience with tissue engineering techniques is beneficial
- Expert in biological model and assay development, aseptic techniques and biochemical assays including but not limited to ELISA/Luminex, Western blot, qPCR, and imaging techniques such as IHC & IF
- Demonstrated excellence in planning, executing and analyzing experiments
- Able to troubleshoot and solve challenging problems
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Passionate about cosmetic product discovery, flexible team player and comfortable in fast paced environment
- Prior experience in handling human tissues is a plus
- Prior experience of skin research is a plus
- Prior experience with lab on chip research (design and implement automated systems & microfluidics experience) is a plus
- Experience in various analytical instruments such as SEM, TEM, HPLC, FTIR, DLS and TLC is a plus
- The ability to be onsite, in the office as this is an essential function of the position (required)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis, without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
