Technology Development Engineer

at Insperity Peo Services in Chicago, Illinois, United States Job Description The Technology Development Engineer will be responsible for experimentation towards the development of novel materials for Li-ion batteries. Specific duties include: Conducting studies of silicon anode materials and working with management to develop strategy and execution plan for future products. Working hands-on with all aspects of laboratory Li-ion battery research: material synthesis; electrode slurry mixing, coating, and characterization; test cell assembly; electrochemical testing. Managing multiple development initiatives for application specific electrode and cell optimization. Documenting developments and conclusions for internal reference. Carrying out physical characterization and battery failure analysis of Li-ion cells and electrodes. Conducting literature reviews, both academic and industrial (i.e. patent reviews). Telecommuting allowed less than 5% of the year. Domestic travel may be required less than 5% of the time. Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field. Position will also require the following: Knowledge of coin cell building. Knowledge of pouch cell building. Knowledge of li-ion battery electrode formulation. Knowledge of Python data analysis. Knowledge of battery cycler protocol writing.
