Quality Control Technician Job Description As a Quality Control Technician, you will interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits. You will troubleshoot print and bill of materials problems in cooperation with Engineering and production staff, recommend methods of assembly, welding, and production, and perform inspections on various stages of the production process. Your role will involve testing finished products for paint quality and thickness, welding quality, dimensions, fit, blast profile, and appearance. You will also perform standard inspection tests including air testing welds and magna-flux testing, and route products for re-work when necessary. Responsibilities Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits. Troubleshoot print and bill of materials problems in cooperation with Engineering and production staff. Recommend methods of assembly, welding, and production. Perform inspection on first piece, in process, purchased part, finished material, and products, ensuring conformance to specifications. Test finished products for paint quality and thickness, welding quality, dimensions, fit, blast profile, and appearance. Perform standard inspection tests including air testing welds and magna-flux testing. Route product for re-work. Complete all required records and paperwork including inspection reports, damage reports, return reports, and re-work orders. Process purchase damage numbers when incorrect material is received. Ensure finished product is packaged and loaded correctly to minimize possible damage during transportation. Analyze inspection results and assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standard. Communicate with plant supervision noted deviations of tolerances and quality. Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
