Analytical Lab Technician

Job Description

The Analytical Lab Technician will utilize standard operating procedures to run oils and fine fragrances on GC/MS. The role involves performing extractions on finished products to identify fragrance compositions, preparing output for perfumer review, and changing gas tanks as necessary to ensure efficient operation of machinery. The technician will maintain basic operations on GC/MS, including routine troubleshooting, and be familiar with the machines to diagnose larger issues and report them. Updating the mass spectral library with new materials from vendors and labeling samples accurately while documenting testing are also key aspects of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Run oils and fine fragrances on GC/MS using standard operating procedures.
  • Perform extractions on finished products to identify fragrance composition.
  • Prepare output for perfumer review.
  • Change gas tanks as needed to ensure efficient operation of machinery.
  • Maintain basic operation on GC/MS, including routine troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose larger machine issues and report them to managers.
  • Update mass spectral library on GC with new materials from vendors.
  • Label samples appropriately and document testing.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 2-3 years of experience in Fragrance/Flavor industry with olfactory/sensory and sample preparation.
  • 2+ years of experience with GC and GCMS, including troubleshooting, extraction, and maintenance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in fragrance is preferred, but open to flavor industry experience.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $36.00/hr.
