Position Summary:

Discovery Life Sciences, is a trusted provider of quality biospecimens and laboratory services to hundreds of customers across the U.S. and around the world. The Associate Scientist contributes to our mission by performing client-sponsored and R&D projects in the Cell Biology laboratory.

A Day in the Life of an Associate Scientist at Discovery Life Sciences:

  • Lead cell biology experiments
  • Communicate with clients about their studies.
  • Perform flow cytometry experiments.
  • Learn new assay platforms and share new knowledge with junior staff.

Must-Have Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):

Must Have:

  • A minimum of a BS/BA degree in biology, biotechnology, biomedical sciences, or related fields.
  • 5 to 8 years of industry experience
  • Proficiency in this role requires a track record of demonstrated success as well as personal attributes including initiative, independent thinking, a solution-focused mindset, and collaborative skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with colony forming cell (CFC) assays.
  • Knowledge and experience with immunology/cell biology assays and flow cytometry.
  • Working knowledge of universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens, and handling human biospecimens
  • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with Word and Excel
  • Strong multitasking skills and the ability to maintain organized records.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a creative mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform CFC assays and other specialized cell biology assays (such as ADCC, CDC, ELISA, multi-parameter flow cytometry, etc.)
  • Independent planning, analysis, and execution of in vitro immunological and toxicological studies to advance the work of our clients.
  • Utilize flow cytometry to analyze cells according to established quality control procedures.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully, clearly and concisely with clients regarding their studies.
  • Execute experiments with appropriate documentation, data analysis, and drafting of technical reports.
  • This role reports to the Principal Scientist and will work in close collaboration with scientists and technicians at the Seattle site.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate the Quality Management System (QMS) at Discovery -Seattle.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, including safety and/or universal precautions.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with listed SOPs and policies.
  • Participate in the safety program at Discovery-Seattle and facilitate a culture of constant improvement and adherence to all guidelines.
  • Respect the privacy of personal information of patients, co-workers, and all individuals with whom the Company interacts
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the Company and its operations
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.

Compensation and Benefits:

Discovery Life Sciences is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices, and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $85,000-$95,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
