- Perform calibration and periodic checks of lab equipment.
- Monitor lab supply inventory and initiate ordering of supplies.
- Timely review of test results, notebooks, and lab worksheets.
- Update various spreadsheets and databases to track test results, outside testing, and monitor quality.
- Effectively communicate with production and other lab personnel about in-process quality results.
- Perform regular lab inspections.
- Draft, review, and revise SOPs and worksheets.
- Help train lab and production personnel on lab procedures.
- Communicate with outside labs, customers, and suppliers.
- Execute other responsibilities and projects as required.
- Proficiency in Chemistry, Lab Technology, and GMP practices.
- Strong Microsoft software skills, particularly Excel.
- Experience in testing, food quality, and quality assurance.
- Technical writing and manual testing skills.
- A four-year science degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or related fields is preferred, especially with a background in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry.
- SOP and documentation experience.
- Candidates with a two-year Science degree and industry Chemistry lab experience using HPLC and wet chemistry in a food lab will be considered.
This role is located within a manufacturing facility, requiring comfort with working in a plant setting. You will be part of a QC team and rotate between three different labs. The lab team consists of nine members, and you will be working at locations on the SW side of Cedar Rapids. The dress code includes wearing safety glasses and potentially steel-toed shoes/boots. It is a GMP environment, with restrictions on contacts, jewelry above the waist, and nail polish. The regular day shift hours are from 8 AM to 4 PM or 7 AM to 3 PM, with a training period lasting 4-6 weeks.
