Description
This position is primarily lab based performing basic tasting on raw materials, but at times will need to go out on the production line/plant to inspect finished products manually. About 70% of their time is in the lab and the rest of the 30% is in the plant. Some days are very heavy on inspections and things in the plant but other days can be almost entirely in the lab setting it just depends on the needs of production.
SUMMARY
Provides quality control support to the Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance functions of a
chemical manufacturing facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited, to the following:
Performs basic lab tests (pH, specific gravity, viscosity, titrations) on raw materials and batches
and fill line samples.
Calculates batch adjustments as needed.
Inspects packaging lines for conformance to specifications for fill weight, cap torque, labels and
label placement, lot coding etc.
Documents test and inspection results on both paper and electronic forms.
Reviews and maintains production records and files.
Inspects finished goods and received components for release.
Investigates quality complaints and nonconformance.
Maintains attention to detail and professional integrity.
Communicates effectively with both production staff and management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Four year degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer proficiency using Windows/Word/Excel/Outlook. Knowledge of quality management systems
such as ISO-9001 and/or regulatory experience with FDA (medical device), EPA (pesticide registration),
DOT and OSHA are a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, edit, proofread and interpret documents such as Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Standard
Operating Procedures (SOP), product labeling. Must have proficiency in grammar and spelling. Must
demonstrate strong attention to detail.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
