We are responsible for inventing, characterizing, and advancing novel genome therapy reagents for a myriad of clinical applications. Job Responsibilities:

The Scientist, Early Preclinical Development, will participate and contribute to the in-vivo pharmacology lab to support the discovery and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates for Gene Therapy. As part of the Early Preclinical Development team, s/he will be a key driver to advance novel targets for neurodegenerative disorders, as well as exploring AAV biodistribution.

  • Conduct in vivo pharmacology experiments and studies to characterize activity of gene therapy vectors in animal models using various histologic methods
  • Perform in-vivo and organ sampling to support various cross-functional teams
  • Assist in the development and characterization of novel animal models using various histologic read outs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (e.g., Target Discovery, Translational, and CROs) to help ensure translation of candidates from discovery to development
  • Perform studies to investigate the in vivo distribution of AAV by imaging modalities (e.g. In situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, IVIS)
  • Keep and maintain accurate and timely documentation of all practical work: completion of electronic notebook in alignment with Lilly procedure quality standards and Good Documentation Practices
  • Weekend work may be required at times
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors and/or Masters degree in life sciences (e.g., biology, neuroscience, or related scientific field) with 1+ years of experience working in pharmaceutical industry, contract research organization, or academic setting.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
  • Experience in rodent handling, including dosing (iv, ip, po, etc) and harvesting tissues/fluids
  • Experience with ex-vivo assays is a plus such as ELISAs, WB, qPCR, and histology techniques
  • Experience in cell culture is desired
  • Passion, knowledge and experience in neuroscience or rare disease research
  • Strong analytic thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to articulate issues, and extract and synthesize complex issues into key focus.
  • Creative and curious. Can quickly adapt in a fast-paced working environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proven record to collaborate and network across a wide variety of functions and work effectively with internal and external partners.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidates education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$69,000 - $179,300

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
