Medical Lab Scientist II

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Lab Scientist II to join our team. This role requires an adaptable professional capable of performing both routine and complex technical procedures in a dynamic laboratory setting. Your efforts will directly contribute to quality patient care by ensuring accurate and timely test results.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems, specifically Cerner Pathet.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
  • Experience in Blood Bank is desirable.
Work Environment

The position involves working in a Core Lab setting with a 4x10 schedule, including rotating weekends, on the 3rd shift from 9pm to 7:30am. You will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and adhere to safety protocols.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.75 - $43.00/hr.
