GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Performs a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory procedures on clinical research specimens; displays a mastery of laboratory techniques, principles, and instrumentation; correlates data required to provide quality information used by physician in the research and development of clinical processes.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs laboratory testing on specimens according to departmental protocol while complying with hospital and department policies regarding safety and infection control. Displays mastery of laboratory techniques, principles, and instrumentation. (40%)
  • Independently performs all tasks related to the execution of research as defined by the physician/investigator. (20%)
  • Operates, calibrates, checks, and maintains instrumentation. (20%)
  • Participates with the review and monitoring of quality control and quality assurance records. (5%)
  • Demonstrates proper care and handling of laboratory animals. (5%)
  • Participates in continuing education to ensure growth and development of the laboratory. (5%)
  • Monitors and evaluates laboratory inventory. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS :

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or related science
  • Experience with computer software programs

Preferred

  • 0-1 years experience in a research laboratory environment
