We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Scientist, Cellular & Molecular Toxicology, Translational Safety to be located in San Diego, CA.

Purpose: The Senior Scientist will join the Cellular & Molecular Toxicology (CMT) team within Preclinical Sciences & Translational Safety (PSTS) to apply cell-based screening and mechanistic toxicity support for investigative studies. This role involves designing and conducting robust experiments to assess target liability and toxicity mechanisms, while developing assays suitable for de-risking observations in drug discovery & development. The position requires a collaborative spirit and exemplary communication skills to effectively work in a matrixed team environment engaging with stakeholders from various functions.

You will be responsible for:

Experimental Design & Execution:

  • Design and conduct cell-based screening / mechanistic assays to address toxicity challenges.
  • Develop and validate fit-for-purpose assays suitable for investigating target organ toxicity or mechanistic findings.

Investigative Studies:

  • Utilize advanced cellular and molecular techniques for toxicity evaluations arising from nonclinical findings
  • Incorporate organotypic models such as spheroids, microphysiological systems, and co-culture approaches to study toxicity mechanisms

Collaborative Problem Solving:

  • Work with cross-functional teams and contribute to solving scientific problems across multi-disciplinary domains.

Scientific Communication:

  • Analyze and interpret experimental data to create scientific presentations and reports.
  • Maintain proper recording of information in electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Present findings to supervisors, project teams, and stakeholder groups.
  • May also serve as a functional representative on laboratory based site committees

Qualifications

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Toxicology, Pharmacology, or a related scientific discipline with 2-5 years postdoctoral training in academia or industry setting. MS degree with 10 years of experience will also be considered.

Experience/Skills:

Required Expertise:

  • Strong laboratory experience in cell-based models and assay development.
  • Background in cellular and molecular biology
  • Proficiency in techniques such as cell culture, western blots, flow cytometry, PCR, ELISA, and immunofluorescence imaging.
  • Knowledge of 3D culture techniques, spheroids, and microphysiological systems.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to design mechanistic and hypothesis-driven investigations.
  • Proficiency in software such as GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred:

  • Experience in organotypic systems incorporating immune or multiple cell types.
  • Familiarity with drug modalities beyond small molecules.

The expected pay range for this position is $105,000 to $169,050.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.
