Laboratory Technician**
**Job Summary:**
Assist in the maintenance and management resources for our biomedical laboratory facilities. Train and supervise undergraduate researchers. Contribute to biomedical research projects including cell culture, protein purification, and biochemical/chemical analyses. Conduct literature research and contribute to development of research presentations, manuscripts, and proposals.

**Minimum Qualifications:**
B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry
One or more years' experience conducting biomedical related research
Previous work experience in operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation
**Desired Qualifications:**
Demonstrated ability to write effective scientific reports
Experience with cell culture, protein purification, and/or maintenance of laboratory equipment
Detail-oriented organizational skills and ability to communicate professionally with students, staff, and faculty
Outstanding writing skills and experience with the biomedical science literature
**Other Qualifications:**
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.
Report to work obligations to support the department and will require work during HPU's winter break.
Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
Able to work all shifts and occasionally extended hours.
Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment utilizing excellent time and stress management skills.
**Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:**
Assist in the maintenance and management of our biomedical laboratories and instrumentation and training and supervising undergraduate researchers. (40%)
Maintain equipment as established by standard operating procedures.
Monitoring inventory levels, stocking materials, and order materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Contribute to laboratory hygiene, including organizing and stocking materials, cleaning glassware and other durables.
Follow chemical hygiene and laboratory safety policies based on University guidelines.
Act independently and/or cooperatively on technical matters and problem solving.
Assist in revising and expanding standard operating procedures.
Train student and other researchers in use of instrumentation, operation of lab facilities, and safety
Supervise students as assigned in conducting experiments and in use of lab equipment and instruments.
Provide guidance to student and other researchers as needed, including experimental design and statistical analyses, lab documentation, and experimental methods.
