Job Summary

Benjamin Moore & Co., a Berkshire Hathaway company, is a leading manufacturer of innovative, high-quality coatings for the architectural and industrial maintenance markets. Leveraging on the expertise in analytical chemistry and instrumentation, our analytical lab provides the data required to make critical decisions during research and development. This data is integral in driving product improvement, ensuring product quality and meeting regulatory compliance requirements. We are currently looking for a Chemist to join our Analytical team.

In this role, you will collaborate with other members within the Analytical group to provide analytical chemistry services to Research & Development Labs, Corporate Quality Groups, Regulatory, and Manufacturing. In this position, you will be required to issue regular analytical project status reports and written reports upon completion of projects. The Analytical Chemist will develop and establish in-house analytical testing and characterization capabilities for coatings and raw materials.

Designs and executes experiments to address targeted objectives

Analyzes data, thoroughly documents results and recommends next steps

Works as a team member on larger, more complex projects

Research on expanding analytical testing and characterization capabilities

Draft and issue analytical reports

Maintain lab equipment

Participates in learning and capability building initiatives

Qualifications

Desired Experience / Qualifications

BS degree in chemistry with 3+ years experience in analytical chemistry or related field

Knowledge of analytical chemistry, analytical and material characterization methods and instrumentation

Hands-on experience with analytical and material characterization instruments, i.e., HPLC/MS, GC/MS, UV, FTIR, SEM, DSC and GPC

Proven experience with analytical instrument set-up, maintenance and troubleshooting

Detailed-oriented with good communication and organizational skills
