The Position

Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

This position is with the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Water Pollution Control (BWPC) within the Stormwater Branch located in the Las Vegas office. This position is responsible for conducting inspections and audits at facilities with stormwater permits and ensuring compliance with statutes, regulations, and permits. The position will review stormwater plans and reports, write inspection reports and audits, write technical and compliance letters, and track compliance with regulatory requirements. Additional duties may include writing violations and non-compliance notices, helping review permits, corresponding with permittees, contractors, and developers, and use of BWPC and EPA online databases.
