Quality Control Chemist

Job Description

The Quality Control Chemist will be responsible for performing HPLC, GC, and bench chemistry primarily on the company's main product, a digestive enzyme, as well as on new products in development. The role involves routine testing with a focus on wet chemistry and HPLC, alongside some GC tests. The chemist will also engage in project work related to all products and test impurities and performance of new products using HPLC. Cross-training across multiple tests will provide variety and opportunities for feedback on process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine HPLC, GC, and wet chemistry tests on digestive enzymes and new products.
  • Perform reviews and follow customer requests and guidelines.
  • Engage in project work and testing of impurities and product performance using HPLC.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements.
  • Cross-train on additional tests and assist with projects.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or other life sciences.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in HPLC analysis, ideally 5+ years.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient documentation skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in quality control, API, GMP, and FDA regulations.
  • Understanding of SOPs in a laboratory setting.
Work Environment

The Quality Control Chemist will work the 1st shift from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with flexibility to start between 7:00 am and 9:00 am. The role involves minimal overtime, which is not mandatory. The chemist will operate within a new lab and main building, working with both HPLC and GC equipment. The environment may include small workspaces, exposure to cold, dust, heat, humidity, noise, and some chemicals. Physical demands include completing a 30lb lift test.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $37.00/hr.
