Job Description:
1. Review academic research papers and patents to maintain up-to-date knowledge of the
trends, developments, and new technologies in the field of materials science in the
application of renewable biomaterials.
2. Conduct technical pre-research to evaluate the feasibility of project goals, including
analyzing the materials' theoretical potential/capacity, researching viable synthesis
approaches to obtain target materials, designing appropriate characterization/test
methods, etc.
3. Define the scope of experiments and utilize Black Fur's throughput and testing platforms
to develop scientific experimental design, based on the scope and correlation among
materials selection, property, and structure.
4. Improve the performance of ventilator platform materials by optimizing their properties,
flexibility, and biocompatibility (e.g., chemical composition, materials structure, non-
toxicity, non-allergic responses, non-carcinogenic, materials morphology, etc.) through
various materials characterizations and test result analyses.
5. Conduct biocompatibility analysis/testing to ensure the materials selected for valve
diaphragms comply with FDA and related regulations.
6. Based on Blackfur's materials database, utilize molecular dynamic simulation with QSPR
(quantitative structure-properties relation) to predict the structural and mechanical
properties of new material by conducting multi-scale simulation mechanism.
7. Design worksheets for the technician team, provide instruction for each experiment,
monitor experiment progress, identify unusual activities or test results, and provide
appropriate recommendations to ensure that projects be delivered on time and within
budget.
8. Attend academic and industrial conferences as a representative for Black Fur to present
internal project results to the scientific community.
9. Write technical papers and seek to publish research outcomes in the forms of research
papers or patents.
Job Requirements:
1. A master's degree in Materials Engineering or Materials Science, from a university in the
U.S. or its foreign equivalent.
2. Must be able to conduct material property analysis, including material stiffness
computation, thermal conductivity, and reflectivity of light.
3. Be able to utilize materials characterization data for in-situ monitoring and predictive
modeling to assist in product design.
4. Must be able to us Cambridge Engineering Selector (CES) software to perform materials selection in product design process.
