Essential Duties: A computational scientist will assist the HRL team in characterizing qubit performance, optimizing quantum control, and contributing to the development of software for quantum processor simulation and experiments. Candidates must exhibit abilities to read and to produce robust source code and associated mathematical analysis for numerical evaluation of methods in quantum characterization, simulation, and compilation, and interact with software developers and experimental practitioners.
Required Skills: Familiarity with mathematical software development is a must, preferably python-based, or alternatively, Julia, C/C++, etc. Candidate must be proficient in modern software-engineering practices, including an ability to design clean, well-documented API. Candidate will be experienced in developing, profiling, and optimizing multicore CPU and/or GPGPU for computations involving matrices, multi-dimensional arrays, PDEs, and Monte Carlo methods. Familiarity (coursework or experience) with the physics of spin-qubits or with photonic systems, and/or with applied quantum is desired. information theory. (QCVV, channel/noise analysis, algorithms/QEC, optimized control theory, data analysis for quantum experiments, etc.) is desired. Collaborative software development experience, or commensurate software skills: source control with SVN/git/etc. (branching, pull requests, code review); test-driven development and CI/CD; and facility with Linux/Unix is desired.
Required Education: Doctoral degree in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or similar field adjoining applied quantum information.
Special Requirements: US Citizenship Required. Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
Compensation: The base salary range for this full-time position is $132,765 - $165,983 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include potential bonus or benefits.
